Barrow AFC is hoping that it can increase its presence in the local community following a new appointment.
The football club said Emmanuel Allen-Burnett would be joining the outfit as a full-time Community Engagement Officer.
According to the club, it has taken them months to find the right person with Emmanuel eventually ticking all the boxes they were looking for.
Speaking about what his new role entails, Emmanuel said: “This role is all about fostering our relationship with the key groups within our local community here in Barrow-In-Furness.
“It’s a beautiful town and you can see how passionate everyone is about their football, so I’ve come into this position to really connect the football club back with its fans and see what good we can do within the wider community.”
The club explained that, over the past year, they identified that hiring someone to the new position would increase the amount of work they can do across the region as they look to 'strengthen' their position in the fabric of Barrow.
Emmanuel joins the club having recently finished his studies at UCFB where he completed his degree in Sports Business and Law.
Whilst studying at University, Emmanuel volunteered with the Manchester FA where he helped take part in a number of projects within the local community.
He added: “Whilst at Manchester FA, I’ve been a part of a lot of community projects in Greater Manchester as part of my role as a member of the Youth Council.
"Most recently, at the beginning of April, my team and I hosted an event for 100 young people to showcase to them all the different roles and show them how football can help better you with so many different skills that are transferable to all different aspects of life.”
