Businesses in Dalton will be banding together to mark the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day.
The Normandy Landings were the operations on Tuesday, June 6 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy.
Dalton with Newton Town Council confirmed earlier this week that plans were in place so that the region is prepared to honour the anniversary in the appropriate manner.
A spokesperson commented: "From May 27, our contactors will be erecting approximately 50 'D-Day 80' flags above businesses along Market Street and Tudor Square.
"These flags have been purchased from the Ancre Somme Association Charity.
"The Council will not be putting up bunting as June 6 is a commemorative date rather than celebratory."
The largest seaborne invasion in history, D-Day marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe.
