A WOMAN has been sentenced after she made the decision to drive after snorting a Class A drug.
Carrie Hartley, of Westway in Barrow, was stopped by road traffic officers when driving her Vauxhall Zafira on Roose Road on November 30 last year.
The 39-year-old defendant was asked to provide a drugs wipe test at the roadside because the police had reason to believe she had been drug driving.
Hartley was found to be 12 times over the legal drug limit for driving after the results revealed she had been driving with 120 ug/L of Cocaine in her blood.
The legal driving limit for this drug is 10 ug/L. However, this is a zero-tolerance limit.
She was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120 as a result of her guilty plea at the first opportunity at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on May 8.
Magistrates also ordered that she pay court costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
