THE NATIONAL Trust announced that it has improved a 'popular' Wainwright route up to the Langdale Pikes from its Stickle Ghyll car park.
The trust worked with Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) to replace a 'tricky' stile with a 'lovely' gate on the Mark Gate path.
A spokesperson from the trust said: "This gate will make it easier for walkers to access the trails and also for the LAMRT team members when they need to carry rescue equipment onto the fells."
