A MAN has been sentenced for drink driving and other motor related offences.
Nigel Dawson, of Greystoke Gardens in Barrow, was stopped by road traffic officers on Hawcoat Lane in Barrow on April 6 this year while driving a white and black Renault Captur GT Line.
Officers pulled the defendant over and conducted a roadside breath test which came back positive for excess alcohol consumption.
The lowest reading of which was 57 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Police inquiries revealed the 56-year-old had also been driving without a valid vehicle licence, test certificate and third-party insurance.
Dawson also admitted an offence of failing to surrender to police/court bail at an appointed time having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on April 6 at Barrow Police Station.
As a result of his guilty pleas at the first opportunity, magistrates at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on May 4 fined the defendant £350 and disqualified him from driving for 16 months.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £140 surcharge.
