A BOY has been convicted of rape and sexual assault after trial.
The 16-year-old from Barrow, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of raping an underage girl contrary to section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
The teenager was also convicted of two sexual assaults on the same victim when she did not consent, contrary to sections 2 and 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
He originally denied the offences on September 8 last year but was found guilty after trial on March 1.
The boy also falls to be sentenced for criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 after pleading guilty to the offence on April 19 this year.
The particulars of the offence include him damaging a Cell Intercom to the value of £500 belonging to Cumbria Constabulary.
On May 2, magistrates committed all of the charges to Crown Court for sentence.
He was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on May 30.
