Animal Rescue Cumbria dogs for rehoming

Animal Rescue Cumbria and The Wainwright Shelter take in, rehabilitate and rehome 350 cats and dogs every year. Once a dog has been assessed by the animal care team, they can be advertised for adoption.

RASTA is a nine year old Staffy.

He is looking for a family who is quite active as he enjoys regular walks, and would like a secure garden to potter around in.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said he can start off a little strong on the lead but soon settles down and walks well.

Rasta needs to be the only dog in the home, he cannot live with other pets, but could potentially live with older children over 12 years old.

REGGIE is a six month old Foxhound cross puppy.

He will need an active lifestyle and is looking for a lively family who can include him on all of their adventures and continue his basic training.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “Reggie is a young boy who will need consistent training to guide him through the rest of puppyhood.

“Reggie could live with children over the age of 10+ years. He has previously lived with young children and although he was good with them, he tends to forget he is not as small as he thinks he is!”

He could potentially live on his own or with another confident dog, if introduced correctly.

The charity said that due to being a hound, he will need to be kept occupied mentally, as well as physically. He will need a secure garden to explore in.

NIGHTINGALE is a six year and nine month old German Shephard.

She would be best suited to someone with large breed experience and would like a confident owner who can continue her training.

Nightingale would like to be the only pet in the home and wants her owners to be around lots of the time.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said she can sometimes be reactive to other dogs when out on walks, but this can be managed with positive reinforcement training.

They also said: “Nightingale travels well in a secure crate in our van and walks well in a town environment. Nightingale can be strong on lead when initially excited but settles down and enjoys her walk, she walks well when using a head collar lead.”

MIKE is a Spitz cross, estimated to be around four years old.

He is looking for an extra special, patient and understanding owner who can continue his training.

Mike needs a quiet, adults only home, where he can be the only pet, a home where there are few visitors would suit him best.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “Once Mike gets to know you, he is a very sweet boy who enjoys a fuss. He loves to explore our secure field and his recall is coming on well.”

Mike can be reactive when out on walks and needs an owner who can build his confidence.

A home away from built up areas, with quiet walks and a secure garden would be great for Mike.
