A BARROW offender is facing a likely term of imprisonment after breaching a previously imposed suspended sentence order.
Jordan Barnes, 30, was given a second chance by a judge after he caused permanent damage to PC Jackson whilst resisting arrest following a dispute between the defendant and his brother on May 3 2021.
Beth Pilling, prosecuting the case at Preston Crown Court on October 20 2022, said the assault left the officer with a fractured shoulder and limited movement in his arm.
She said the officer required surgery and was forced to permanently perform an entirely different role in the force as a result of the defendant’s actions.
The court heard Barnes, of Schooner Street in Barrow, allowed the officer to put one of his hands in handcuffs but then grappled with the officer following a ‘scuffle’ with his brother in a back street.
He was handed a 14-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months on October 20 2022 for wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm after a judge believed there was a strong prospect of rehabilitation.

However, 14-months later, Barnes, who is currently remanded at HMP Preston, admitted a string of offences at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on April 29 – all of which put him at breach of the previously imposed suspended sentence order.
He admitted he assaulted PC Massey, who was acting in the exercise of his functions on December 11 last year and confessed to being the owner of an XL bully dog that caused injury to another whilst on Lord Street in Barrow on March 15.
The 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress towards the same complainant on March 15.
He will be sentenced for the offences at Preston Crown Court on June 10.
