Barrow and Furness MP Simon Fell has paid a visit to Ulverston this weekend to what is hoped to be its next community hub.
The community is rallying together to create the new space which will be nicknamed 'The Spot' after many have been lost including The Parish Rooms, Lanternhouse and the Town Hall.
Fundraising has already begun to buy The Old Mart on Victoria Road to turn it into a hub where activities can take place and will also include a room for support services, a multi-purpose hall and a maker space.

Investors include members of the Ulverston Table Tennis Club, Ulverston Food Project, Lantern Festival and the Resilience Group which are working to raise £500,000 to both buy the building and fit it out with wooden ‘interior pods’.
Speaking on his Facebook page on Saturday (May 4), Simon Fell said: "The team have exciting plans and I look forward to working with them as they put their Community Ownership Fund bid in (we’ve managed two successful ones so far with The Roxy and Cooke’s Studios) at the end of the month.
"When I have more details, I’ll share them about how to get involved and support their bid."
