The christening of a new submarine in Barrow came with a floral surprise for one local hospice.
The Royal Navy’s latest Astute Class submarine was officially named at BAE Systems earlier this week, earning the name of Agamemnon.
The grand ceremony is still having a positive impact in the community, after the decorations from the day were donated to St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston to brighten up their site and provide a source of cheer for their clients.
A spokesperson from St Mary's commented: "A huge thank you to Catherine Bland and the team at BAE Systems for kindly donating the flowers from their Agamemnon submarine naming ceremony.
"A special thank you to Dawn and Alan Towart for facilitating this donation and putting our name forward.
"We are so lucky to have such wonderful supporters in our community, championing our cause."
