A Lake District hotel worker has achieved an impressive 100 testimonials for her exceptional service.

Receiving these plaudits from both customers and colleagues alike, Ilse Bujok, reception manager at The Wild Boar near Windermere, is the first person from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues to hit such a figure.

Ms Bujok's tally was recorded as part of the +1 initiative, a programme designed to promote quality customer service, creativity, and innovative thinking amongst staff.

Recognising the small everyday acts of service and care, the scheme works similarly to a 'player of the match' award in sports.

Every month, employees are nominated for the +1 initiative, recognising those acts or performance levels that surpass what guests or co-workers expect.

Ms Bujok is the first member to gather 100 nominations of this kind and in turn, the first recipient of the English Lakes Hotels Platinum award.

Alongside the honour, she landed herself £250 in English Lakes Gift Vouchers to celebrate her accomplishment.

Among her many credits, a standout was when she successfully located a guest's lost wallet at Windermere golf club.

Another incident involved her rescuing a stray dog that had wandered into The Wild Boar.

Rather than panic, Ms Bujok gave the dog water and called local farmers, ultimately reuniting the animal with its owner.

Ben Berry, managing director of English Lakes Hotels, said: "We all know how good it feels when someone highlights a good piece of work you have done.

"Now imagine that happening 100 times.

"It's quite an achievement and a real feather in the cap for Ilse and the team at The Wild Boar."

Ms Bujok said: "The +1 award scheme is a great source of motivation for me.

"It's nice to hear from colleagues or guests that they think I'm doing a good job."

The hotel group also confers silver, gold, and champions awards to staff who collect more than 10, 25 and 50 +1 nominations respectively.

Currently, the company is recruiting for roles across the hospitality industry.
