A BUSY pass linking Ambleside to Patterdale has closed for two weeks for resurfacing works.
This is for the latest phase of the multi-million-pound road safety scheme on Kirkstone Pass.
The work between April 16 and April 30 will complete resurfacing on the north side of the pass, according to Westmorland and Furness Council.
This is so it can be fully opened for the busy summer holidays.
The project, which is being delivered by the council, has included the installation of new drainage and culverts, new lay-bys and signage and 'environmentally-sensitive' wooden crash barriers.
The council says that this is to make one of the highest roads in the Lake District safer and to better protect it from flooding and weather events, making it less prone to closures in the future.
