ION Harbour by Simon Rogan in Malta has been awarded its second Michelin star.
This makes it the island's first-ever two Michelin-starred establishment.
The award comes just a year after renowned chef Simon Rogan took charge at the eatery based in Valletta's Iniala Hotel.
The Simon Rogan restaurant group, fondly called UMBEL, can now tout eight Michelin stars awarded to its establishments.
It includes L’Enclume*** and Rogan & Co* in the Lake District, Aulis London*, and Roganic Hong Kong*.
The group also proudly holds two Michelin Green stars attributed to L’Enclume and one to Roganic Hong Kong, both received in 2021.
Chef Simon Rogan said: ''Receiving news that ION Harbour has two Michelin Stars today is, without a doubt, one of the highlights of my career so far.
"I am so proud of what we have achieved here so far, and alongside my Exec Chef Oli Marlow and the Iniala and ION Harbour team.
"Knowing that we are the first ever two Michelin Star restaurant in Malta makes this all the more special - there will be celebrations in Valletta tonight that’s for sure.''
ION Harbour, nestled atop the five-star Iniala Harbour House Hotel, offers breath-taking views of Valletta's UNESCO-listed Grand Harbour, affirming its status as a jewel in the historic capital of Malta.
Consistent with Simon Rogan's philosophy at all his restaurants, the operations of ION Harbour exemplify a steadfast dedication to sourcing and sustainability.
This ethos, along with the superior culinary skills of its team, has undeniably contributed to the new accolade and will keep patrons eagerly coming back for more.
