The animals were taken to Little Beasties pet shop in Ulverston where they were checked over by a vet.
They were reported to have no major signs of ill health however were a little underweight with one having a patch of fur missing.
The pair of ginger and white female guinea pigs were named 'Fern' and 'Hazel' and the owners of the pet shop put out a plea for their owners to claim them.
Now, exactly a month to the day after they were abandoned, the pair have been taken in by new loving owners.
Owner of Little Beasties pet shop Mandy Christopher said: "They have now gone to the most fantastic new home. We did appeal to the previous owners however no-one came forward.
"We therefore advertised them and we had a lot of responses.
"We did it on a first-come first-served basis and luckily the local woman who came first had all the right credentials and a great area for them - with a super cute guinea pig rug."
Not only have the guinea pigs got a new home but they also have two new friends - Padme and Leia - named after female Star Wars characters.
Mandy added: "The new owner absolutely loves guinea pigs and was able to take two more which we were delighted about.
"We bonded them at Little Beasties to make sure they all got along before going off to their new home with their new friends."
Little Beasties has other lovely guinea pigs looking for new homes. If you're interested in adoption, visit the Pet Shop's Facebook page.
