An entertainment venue in Cumbria has missed out on the visit of a national comedy troupe due to low sales.
The Beggar's Theatre announced on Tuesday that The Comedy Store has opted to pull out of their scheduled performance in Millom.
This was because of 'low sales and very low pre-sales' following a lack of engagement from the local community.
A spokesperson from the theatre said: "We will of course continue to bring you comedy as often as we can and together with live music and theatre, we will soldier on.
"It is an uphill battle, we win some and we lose some - it is a case of if you don’t use it, we lose it."
This came just before World Theatre Day, which prompted the venue to still thank residents for the support they show to the independent site.
"We are so proud to bring quality live entertainment to our little area of Cumbria that wouldn’t normally get it.
"We are very proud to offer theatre opportunities to young people to come along and express themselves in a safe environment whilst learning new skills for life and building confidence within."
