Flood warnings are in place across Cumbria after recent heavy rainfall. 

GRETNA TO SILLOTH: 

A Flood Alert remains in place for the Coastline from Gretna to Silloth. Areas at Risk Port Carlisle, Silloth, Skinburness, Wampool Estuary, Mossband Hall and Rockcliffe.

Flooding is possible between 12:15pm and 4:00pm on Thursday, March 14. 

The public have been advised to 'be careful' along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.

Flood gates have been closed in the area.

RIVERS WAMPOOL AND ELLEND: 

River levels are rising on the Rivers Wampool and Ellen due to heavy rainfall.

Areas most at risk include Rivers Wampool and Ellen and other watercourses, from Dalston to Maryport including low lying areas around Wigton, Abbeytown, Silloth, Allonby, Aspatria and Dearham.

Further rainfall is forecast this morning. Rainfall is being monitored and the authorities are checking rivers for blockages in the area and will continue to monitor levels closely.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

UPPER RIVER DERWENT, STONETHWAITE BECK AND DERWENTWATER: 

River levels are rising at the Lodore gauge due to recent rainfall. Further rainfall is forecast  into Friday.

The authorities expect Derwentwater and surrounding watercourses to remain high throughout Thursday, March 14 into Friday. Areas most at risk include the Upper Derwent from Seathwaite to Derwentwater.

UPPER RIVER URE: 

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Ure, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around the River Ure and tributaries from its source downstream to Kilgram. Further rainfall is expected. 

NORTH MORECAMBE BAY: 

A Flood Alert remains in place for the coast at North Morecambe Bay. Areas most at risk include Coast at North Morecambe Bay from Roosebeck to Carnforth including low lying areas around Ulverston, Greenodd, Haverthwaite, Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, Levens, Milnthorpe, Sandside, Arnside and Silverdale.

Flooding is possible between 12pm and 4pm on Thursday. 

RIVERS BRATHAY, ROTHAY AND WINSTER:

River levels remain high on the Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster due to recent rainfall. Further rainfall is forecast overnight and tomorrow, which may cause river and lake levels to rise further.

Areas most at risk include Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster and other watercourses, from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel.

River levels are being monitored by the authorities.

LUNE ESTUARY: 

As a result of high spring tides and strong winds, tides will be at their highest this afternoon at 1.45pm.

Areas most at risk include Aldcliffe Marsh, Heaton Marsh, Marsh, Greyhound Bridge, Skerton Bridge, Newton, Overton, Middleton, Glasson and Thurnham Moss.

Flooding is possible two hours either side of 1:45pm.
