THE fourth novel written by a Barrow author is set to be launched.

Chapel Field is the title of Paula Hillman's new novel set on North Scale on Walney. The book is a psychological suspense about silence and its sinister effects on a family and a village.

The author explains that when she was younger she lived in the area of North Scale and the now-developed area of Chapel Field was a seawood.

"I was always fascinated by that seawood when I was a kid. That seawood is gone now but in my story, it has got this house and this story and it is where the inspiration came from," said Paula.

"This book is very character-led, very family orientated and it is about outsider families and how they must feel living in a small community when they are on the outside - but it has got the themes of redemption and a lot of emotion."

Despite being the writer of the story, Paula explains that it makes her 'cry' whenever she reads it.

She said: "I love the book - it is such an emotional story. It is strange when you know what is coming.

"I've got such an emotional bond with the characters from this book."

All of her four books and the ones to be published have Barrow as the inspiration and set for the stories to unfold.

The writer said: "I am a historian and I look at old buildings, old lanes and old houses and the story of them just comes to me. Barrow is Victorian so it holds a lot of history."

Her novels have conquered the hearts of many readers around the globe and the feedback is 'always good', she said.

Her next book is set to come out in June and it is set in Barrow town centre.

Chapel Field will officially launch on March 28 through her publisher Bloodhound Books.
