AN ULVERSTON man has been fined over £1,500 after being caught drink driving.
William Springthorpe, 33, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to driving his Ford Kuga on the A593 while over the legal alcohol limit on February 15.
Lee Dacre, prosecuting the case at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on March 4, said the 33-year-old gave a lowest reading of 72 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which exceeded the 35 micrograms legal limit.
As a result of his early guilty plea, magistrates banned Springthorpe, of Quebec Street in Ulverston, for a period of 38 months and ordered that he pay a £1,538 fine.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £615 surcharge.
