The Christmas in Cartmel event, which has raised huge sums over the years for the community, has been cancelled.
The team of volunteers announced on Thursday that they would not be returning following last year's spectacle, a decision they had come to with 'huge sadness'.

A spokesperson for the team said: "We are a small committee of volunteers, some of us with our own businesses, and find it more and more challenging to organise the event as it grows each year.
"The costs of the event are ever increasing; last year, it cost £6000 to run and we've already had signs that we will have higher costs this year.
"This decision has not been taken lightly by any of us, especially when we donated to local causes over the years."
The team finished by thanking everyone who had supported, volunteered and donated during their time in Cartmel.
