Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is requesting community feedback on its priorities over the next four years.

The fire service has created a Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) draft, geared to direct its decision making on prevention, protection and response efforts till 2028.

The CRMP will ultimately help to make sure that the service has a workforce with the appropriate resources, skills and support to deliver on priorities.

The public is invited to review and comment on the draft, which will then be considered before finalising a document.

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC), Peter McCall, who governs the service, will agree on a final document with the fire service.

The plan considers the service’s understanding of region’s risks, demands, and the resources available.

It also takes into account the direction set by the PFCC in his recently-published Fire Plan.

Chief fire officer at Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Rick Ogden said: "This process allows us to identify opportunities to change and match our resources in the most efficient way.

"I encourage our community to take a look at the draft CRMP and spend a few moments giving us your feedback.

"We look forward to hearing what you have to say in terms of where you see our priorities and the areas in which we should be focusing our attention."

Cumbria’s deputy Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Mike Johnson, encouraged public participation in the process.

He said: "Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are partly responsible for community safety so it's really important that the public have their say on the Community Risk Management Plan.

“The CRMP provides a look into what the service’s priorities are and how they will achieve them so I would encourage everyone to take this opportunity to let us know their thoughts on how we keep them safe.”

The draft CRMP and a survey form are available at www.cumbriafire.gov.uk.

The deadline for responses is March 23.
