A THIEF who stole steaks and beef joints from a major supermarket chain has been sentenced.
Darren Brennan, of Broughton Road in Dalton, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to stealing approximately £131 worth of items from an Aldi store in Barrow on November 28 last year.
Prosecutor Peter Kelly said the defendant took two twin pack fillet steaks worth £9.99 each, four packs of Sirloin steaks at £6.99 each, two single fillet steaks at £4.99 each and two large joints of beef at approximately £32.
The court heard the defendant also stole two bottles of vodka priced at £11.99 each and one large weekend bag at £16.99.
Magistrates at South Cumbria Magistrates Court fined Brennan £140 and ordered that he pay £65.50 in compensation.
The 50-year-old was also required to pay £85 in court costs and a £56 surcharge.
