A scarecrow festival is coming to Ulverston next month in the effort of promoting local groups across Furness.
The event will be held at Ford Park, starting on Tuesday, March 26 and finishing a week later on Tuesday, April 2.
On each day, the gardens at the park will be open until 5pm to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy the varied designs that will be on display.
Groups, schools, businesses and charities in the area will be making the scarecrows which will find themselves it the walled garden at Ford Park.
The hope is that this will prove to be a unique and effective way in promoting those individual organisations, with the scarecrows representing the work they do in the community.
Businesses such as The Box LA12, which specialises in the selling and delivery of cheese, and Shed One, an award-winning distillery, have already shown their support for the festival.
The idea is that, once such businesses and organisations back the event, even more will come forward, transforming the festival into a celebration of Ulverston and what it has to offer.
Whilst entry will be free to the public, the organisers at Ford Park are optimistic that the promotion of charities will encourage residents to dig deep into their pockets.
All events at the park are also designed to provide funds towards the upkeep of the site as well.
The team relies on the support of the local community and events such as the scarecrow festival to raise the £120,000 a year it costs to keep the park open.
