FIVE Cumbrian establishments have been named among the UK's 50 best family-friendly hotels.
Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, Augill Castle, Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, The Swan Hotel & Spa and Another Place, The Lake were listed as one of UK's best 50 family-friendly hotels by The Telegraph newspaper.
Every hotel in the list was visited by one of their reviewers, who are usually hosted on a complimentary basis.
Gilpin Hotel & Lake House
The newspaper praised the hotel as a 'stylish getaway' in the Lakes and for being near the Beatrix Potter trail. It said that there was an 'excellent' choice of rooms. Children aged seven and older are welcome.
Augill Castle
This Kirkby Stephen castle is described as 'welcoming to all' with 20 acres of grounds to explore, including a treehouse. Despite the grand setting, the newspaper reports that the interior is fun and caters to children.
Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa
This hotel, set in a historic country house, offers views of Bassenthwaite Lake, Swiddaw and the fells. It has an award-winning spa, gym, pool and fine dining and offers family rooms and even babysitting.
The Swan Hotel & Spa
This hotel in Ulverston was praised for its location and 'exuberantly coloured' rooms. While adults can enjoy the newly launched spa, children can get adventurous on the playground, nature trail or the indoor playroom. The review pointed out that children benefit from tailored menus, welcome toys and books and even night-time milk and cookies.
Another Place, The Lake
The newspaper stated that in this country house hotel, children are 'celebrated', and the staff makes them feel 'included at every turn.' The review praised the location, which enables children and adults to enjoy watersports.
The review also mentioned hotels around the Cotsworlds, Hampshire and West Sussex.
