Young children in Millom had the chance this week to discover more about their local heroes.
Pupils in the Reception class at Millom Infant School visited the nearby fire station to meet some of the officers on Thursday.
The trip was part of the class' 'People Who Help Us' topic in school, which helps them learn about men and women who play a key role in society and the local area.
Acting Headteacher, Scott Imison said: "They got to try on the uniforms, went inside a fire engine and were given demonstrations of the equipment.
"We have already had a nurse and police officer into school to talk to the children and thank all the emergency services for giving up their time for us and bringing their work to life."
