The community in Walney have placed speeding towards the top of their concerns for the island.
Having now listened to the advice of local residents, police officers have set about combatting the issue, with action now taken.
A new SID (Speed Indication Device) has been set up on Ocean Road to gather data about the driving habits of commuters in the area.
A SID monitors the speed of an oncoming vehicle and then displays the reading to the driver, making them more aware of and accountable for their driving.
They are said to be more cost-effective than other measures, such as road humps and chicanes.
