A MAN has been banned after being caught drink driving over twice the legal limit.
Darren Elliot, of Gloucester Street in Barrow, was stopped by officers driving his Suzuki Ignis on the road where he lives and asked to conduct a roadside breathalyser test on December 22 last year, a court heard.
Results concluded he had been driving while over the legal limit having given a lowest reading of 71 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates at South Cumbria Magistrates Court disqualified the 42-year-old for a period of 22 months and imposed a £350 fine.
Elliot was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £140 surcharge.
