A club promoting the up-and-coming sport of pickleball has surpassed all expectations in terms of its popularity.
Barbara Birch set up the Ulverston Pickleball Club last year, promoting what has been described as the 'fastest growing sport in the UK'.

Barbara said: "We're seeing this burgeoning sport taking hold thanks to our club, which has gratefully been very active since we started."

Originating in the United States in the 1960s, pickleball is played indoors on a badminton court and is a hybrid of tennis, badminton and ping pong.
The current group play weekly at the Dowdales School Sports Hall on Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with the new sessions coming soon to Furness.
