A village in Cumbria recorded the lowest temperature last night of any place in England.
It was a day of disruption throughout the county as the snow arrived for the first time this year, only a month after the region was thrown into chaos by severe wintry conditions.

The Met Office has revealed that the village, between Kendal and Penrith, recorded a temperature of -10.4 degrees.
