Drivers in and around South Cumbria will have six National Highways roadworks to watch out for this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 8pm November 12 2023 to 6am January 20 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 37 to 38, Lane closures for tree removal and re-planting.

• A590, from 8pm December 4 2023 to 6am January 27 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Barrow to Meathop, traffic signals for LED upgrade works.

 M6, from 9.30am November 24 2023 to 6am March 27 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 34 to 37, Lane closures and slip road closure for tree removal and re-planting.

And a further three will begin over the next two weeks:

• A590, from 8am January 9 to 6pm January 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 westbound, Canal Street, traffic signals for fibrus works.

• A590, from 8am January 9 to 6pm January 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 westbound, Quay Street, traffic signals for fibrus works.

• A590, from 8pm January 22 to 6am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Cross-A-Moor Roundabout, Ring management for Completion of safety audit actions including installation of signs, road markings and kerbs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
