CHURCHES in South Cumbria are set to receive over £200,000 in funding from the government.
The government will distribute up to £42 million from a conservation fund to nearly 5,000 churches across the United Kingdom to ease the cost of essential conservation and maintenance work.
It comes as more than one million people are expected to attend Midnight Mass and Christmas Day services this year.
The Government say they are continuing their support for the conservation of listed places of worship across the country having returned £346 million to listed churches, synagogues, mosques and temples since 2010.
