AN E-SCOOTER rider has been left with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Barrow town centre. 

Sections of Rawlinson Street and Crellin Street have been closed off by the police today after the incident. North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) received a call out at 10.06am. The air ambulance also responded to the incident. 

Cumbria Police confirmed that the collision involved a Nissan Micra driven by a man in his thirties and an e-scooter carrying a man in his sixties. 

The man on the e-scooter was taken to hospital in Preston with life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence.

Closures were put in place as investigations were carried out.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has relevant dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward.

The ambulance service initially said that the man injured was a cyclist before the police updated to say that he was riding an e-scooter.
