BOSSES have scooped an award for their business at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Scott Beckman, from Walney, and Sam Cunningham, of Barrow, founders of The Eats Group, have been awarded the North West Retail Entrepreneur of the Year 2023.
The Barrow business was one of the Retail Entrepreneurs of the Year in the regional category among firms from the Midlands, North East, East of England, London, Scotland and Northern Ireland, South East, South West and Wales.
The Great British Entrepreneur Awards are held annually and this year there were over 5,000 entries from across the UK and Ireland.
The event was held at a sold-out Grosvenor House on Park Lane in London.
Sam Cunningham, of The Eats Group, said: "We were delighted to even gain a nomination, let alone to win the category.
"This award is a testament to those behind the scenes at the company - the business is much more than just Scott and I and we’re delighted that the whole team has been recognised.
"The growth in both Barrow Eats and The Eats Group has allowed us to create a large number of job opportunities for local people with UK-wide customer and technical support provided from our HQ on Howard Street to over one million customers.
"At less than half the cost of the likes of Just Eat or Uber Eats, we’re proud to say that Barrow Eats keeps hundreds of thousands of pounds in the local economy each year."
The judges at the awards told the business owners: "The Eats Group's entry captured our attention with Scott’s strong and consistent marketing efforts. The pair’s entrepreneurial journey is truly commendable, successfully identifying a market need and achieving substantial growth & revenue.
"Sam's role as CEO, taking on industry leaders and delivering remarkable growth and profitability, is particularly noteworthy."
