Parking restrictions and car parks for Ulverston's Dickensian Festival

The event will be taking place on the weekend of November 25 and 26 and is one of the most popular Christmas markets in the country. It is expected to attract around 25,000 visitors and an estimated £3 million to the local economy.

There will be multiple performance stages, roving street performers, hot mulled wine, stalls and costume parades through the historic town streets.

Performers for this year's edition include brass bands, singers, magicians, fire eaters, jugglers, stilt walkers and more.

The event is managed and operated by an independent committee of volunteers on a non-profit making basis. Every year local residents help with a stress-free set-up by keeping the town's roads clear of cars. 

The following parking restrictions will be in place:

• Parking will be suspended in Market Street, New Market Street, King Street, Cross Street, Brogden Street on both days from 9am to 5pm daily. 

Car parks:

• The Gill Car Park LA12 7BN 
• Stockbridge Lane Car Park LA12 7BE
• Buxton Place Car Park LA12 7EF 
• Brewery Street Car Park LA12 7HU
• Daltongate Car Park LA12 7BG 

The town car parks will get full very quickly so it is advised to consider the Park and Ride based at Ulverston Auction Mart LA12 9AU.

Sandside Lodge School on Springfield Road and Ford Park may also be offering parking on their sites.

Donations for use of the Park and Ride are welcome and will go to support local charities.

If you find on-street parking, organisers ask motorists to be considerate and ensure they are not blocking any access.

A coach and drop-off point is located at Victoria Road at LA12 7LZ.

Ulverston train station is also a five-minute walk from the town centre. There are regular bus services to the town from Barrow, Kendal, and the surrounding areas.
