The Lake District's Punch Bowl Inn and Restaurant at Crosthwaite has secured a spot in the Good Hotel Guide 2024.
The pub received the coveted Editor's Choice 'Pubs with Rooms' Award and was the lone Cumbrian inn making the cut.
The Good Hotel Guide said: “To find a gem in the quiet corner of the visitor-thronged Lake District is not easy, but this smart village inn in the lovely Lyth Valley is, as one reader reports, ‘always a favourite’.”
Only ten gastro pubs-with-rooms across the UK have achieved the Editor's Choice Awards accolade in the respected guide.
Well established since 1978, the Good Hotel Guide is the sole independent UK hotel guide.
Readers hold a key role, contributing their experiences and recommending new finds, bolstered by GHG spot checks.
Commenting further, the Guide added: “Beautifully presented dishes may be a little nouvelle for fell walkers in search of calories at this South Lakeland village inn, but they pack a gastronomic punch. You can swing by for a pint in the dog-friendly bar. Beamed bedrooms have plenty of character and views over the Lyth Valley.”
Richard Rose, the proud owner of The Punch Bowl Inn & Restaurant, is preparing to celebrate his 20th year of ownership in 2024.
He took over the inn in 2004 and since then has carried out extensive renovation and refurbishment.
Mr Rose said: “As a business owner, any award or accolade is always nice to receive, but when it’s based on real customer reviews and backed up with independent inspections, it means even more to the Punch Bowl team.
“We want to thank all those customers who have taken the time to share their experiences of the Punch Bowl with the Good Hotel Guide to secure this fantastic recognition.
"All of our guests are special and we’re grateful to each and every one of them – whether they’re discovering the Punch Bowl for the first time or returning week after week for lunch or dinner.”
The Good Hotel Guide, now in its 46th year, encompasses over 700 hotels, inns, B&B's and guesthouses.
