Atkinson Building Contractors have been granted planning permission for 40 new homes in Ambleside.

The residential units, situated on the field between Loughrigg Park and Borrans Road, will include a variety of tenures.

The project is in collaboration with Home Group and Holt Property, and according to Atkinson Building Contractors, it embodies its 'commitment to open dialogue, responsible development, and our dedication to creating a project that will have long-term benefits for the Ambleside community'.

The application was approved on November 1 after an extensive review process.

It was delegated by the Development Control Committee to Head of Development Management to approve subject to Section 106 agreement and conditions.

The building firm had encountered numerous objections from the statutory consultees during the application process.

They said that they 'acknowledge and appreciate the concerns raised and worked diligently to address each one'.

They say that this has in turn resulted in a project that 'has the support of both the planning case officer and the Development Control Committee who voted 6-1 in favour of the proposal.

Atkinson Building Contractors extended their appreciation to members of The Lake District National Park Development Control Committee Planning for their careful review.

Their thanks also went out to the local community, as well as Align Property Partners, Curtins, and all stakeholders and partners.

The company says the project 'underscores a significant investment in the future of Ambleside', with the firm determined to have a positive impact on the community.

Atkinson Building Contractors 'look forward to addressing the concerns of those who objected and to involving the local community in the ongoing development process'.

The development dwells amidst the Grasmere, Rydal and Ambleside valley, nestled in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

It's been thoughtfully planned to harmonise with the breath-taking natural landscape and UNESCO world heritage site.

Materials have been selected that are 'sympathetic to the surroundings and existing buildings'.

The project includes 22 affordable rental properties for local residents, 16 open market houses for those with local connections and two principal or exclusive homes.

The Home Group properties will be available for social rent through the Cumbria Choice system once near completion.
