TWO walkers were rescued from a Lake District fell after they became stuck in darkness with no torches.
Cumbria police were contacted after the pair became stuck on the steep path above the Claife Heights viewing station.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) were called just after 6pm in Wednesday (November 8).
A spokesperson for CMRT said: "Cumbria Police called us about a couple of walkers who were benighted on the steep path above the Claife Heights viewing station.
"The man had already slipped on the wet rocks, and they had no torches, so were stuck.
"Three members who live locally assisted the pair down to the road, where our Land Rover took them to the ferry. Once across, a taxi took them on to their accommodation in Windermere."
The rescue took around one hour and 25 minutes and involved 12 volunteers.
The team recently gave advice to those visiting fells not to get 'caught out' by the darkness upon the clocks going back on October 29.
The advice reminded walkers that may live in a city location that it can come as a shock to realise just how dark it can get quickly in the countryside.
