RENOVATIONS of an historic Ulverston cinema have reached a significant milestone as long-awaited repairs to the flat roof have taken place with the building now ready to paint.
The work is part of a massive effort by The Roxy Collective to protect and preserve the building on Brogden Street.
The group was helped by members of Ulverston Town Council and Ulverston Business Improvement District who helped complete their purchase of the building in March 2023.
In August the group revealed the new logo offering a peek at what the new branding will look like.
Scaffolding is still up at the Roxy as other repairs take place however the cinema is operating as usual and the team has revealed they're 'getting there' with the upgrades.
It posted on the Roxy Cinema page: "Repairs to the flat roof at the front of the building have now been completed (and the ducks have all been found new homes).
"Other roofing works to ensure water tightness of the pitched roof are underway.
"A number of areas that required the replacement of external rendering to prevent water ingress are now finished.
"External painting of the Roxy is well underway and is ongoing, weather permitting.
"It’s a long process on a building of this size but we’re getting there.
"And when it’s done it’s going to look fabulous."
