AFTER the birth of her first child, Sarah Banks decided to create an online course to help people improve their mindset.
Sarah chose to specifically cater to mothers so they can enjoy the experience of parenthood without sacrificing their mental health.
“I spent the majority of my adult life struggling with anxiety,” said Sarah, of Barrow.
It was her own journey with mental health that led to her developing her business, Co-creation Coaching.
While working as a spa and beauty therapist in 2018, Sarah felt overwhelmed and feared the judgement of others to the point where she had an anxiety attack while giving a full body massage to a client.
This prompted Sarah to step into self-employment as a personal trainer. Having control over her own work schedule allowed time to work on gaining a healthier mindset.
As a PT, Sarah met a lot of clients who expressed concern over their body image and shared their feelings of fear and anxiety about being in the gym.
So, when Covid-19 sent the UK into lockdown in March 2020, Sarah threw herself into changing her mindset by reading and listening to a lot of self-help books.
In April 2022, Sarah fell pregnant with her daughter Ruby and began following more social media accounts dedicated to parenting and mothers, within these online communities she noticed a lot of negativity.
Sarah said many of the motherhood accounts she found only posted about how difficult life becomes after giving birth, how mothers give up their own identity to dedicate themselves to their child and spend their time overthinking about the never-ending to-do list.
“I didn’t resonate with any of it,” Sarah said.
“Motherhood should be a beautiful journey and although there will be moments where our minds run away a little, moments of being overwhelmed, of difficulty, it doesn’t have to be constant.”
Before her daughter was born, Sarah started creating an online course called Magnetic Lifestyle to help people recover their mental health using some of the techniques she picked up on her own journey.
She has since qualified as an NLP practitioner and is Time Line Therapy Certified. Her Co-creation Coaching business was officially launched in September.
“My course and coaching is available to everyone,” Sarah said.
“I truly believe that no person should ever have to go through life feeling miserable due to their mental health or fear of judgement.
“I specifically wanted to reach mums because we’re not here to live our lives for someone else, there’s another way to live life as a mum. It doesn’t have to be filled with fear, anxiety and overwhelming, we can break these patterns.”
