A metal band from Barrow who stopped performing 11 years ago raised £1500 after reuniting for a one night performance.

Beyond Betrayal performed at the Meeting Place on Friday night to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance Charity.

They did so after their drummer, Jake Newton, was involved in a serious accident, with his life being saved by the air ambulance teams.

A spokesperson said: "Some of you may know that our close friend and drummer Jake was in a serious accident at the start of the pandemic, luckily he survived and pulled through.

"He’s doing amazingly well and we are very fortunate to still have him because he’s one of the greatest drummers to sit behind a kit, the work that he did in our band inspired many musicians to pick up a pair of sticks."

The five piece hardcore band released their debut EP in 2010, but announced an end to their touring two years later.

The special gig included a stand-in drummer and vocalist, but still represented the final ever performance of the band.

They described their shock upon the initial support their announcement received from fans, which only increased following the large sum of money they raised through the show.

"Thank you to every single one of you that supported this event, without you this wouldn’t of been possible.

"Who would have thought a metal band from over a decade ago could pack out a venue and raise a bunch of money for a great cause!"

The band were supported by DVSTR and Groblin and the Ballistics, two bands also from the north of England.

"Both bands have been involved in one way or another with us and Jake, and we thought it was fitting to have these guys involved," a band member explained.
