A LAKE District restaurant has been selected as the best in the North West in a national competition.
The Michelin restaurant L'Enclume in Cartmel was awarded the best restaurant in the region by the Food England Awards 2023.
Run by chef Simon Rogan, the establishment opened in 2002 with a focus on hyperlocal and seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant currently holds three Michelin stars, the top spot in the Good Food Guide and five AA Rosettes.
The awards ceremony was held on Monday October 9 at The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, recognising and rewarding the talent and hard work of the English food industry, highlighting the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, cafes, and producers.
The winners were selected based on the votes of the public, who nominated their favourite establishments across various categories, including Restaurant of the Year, Gastro Pub of the Year, Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year and Best Street Food amongst others.
The awards aimed to recognise excellence across various categories, showcase the best food establishment that England has to offer and promote the country’s industry, celebrating its diversity and quality.
Operations Manager at L'Enclume Nicolas Perdrier said: ‘’We are thrilled that we have been recognised as one of the leading restaurants in the North west.
"This accolade acknowledges the hard work put in by every single member of the team, who go above and beyond in delivering excellence for our guests.’’
A spokesperson for The Food Awards England 2023 said: “We received an overwhelming response from the public, who nominated some fantastic establishments across the country.
“These awards are a testament to the passion and dedication of the country’s food industry, and the hard work of those who provide exceptional culinary experiences to their customers. The winners should be proud of their achievement, as they represent the very best of England’s food scene, and are a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the industry.“Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists, who have demonstrated excellence in their respective categories.”
