Cockermouth auctioneers, Mitchells, are rolling out free Pop-Up Valuation Events at multiple county locations this month.

Building upon recent success of pop-up evaluations in support of South Lakes charities and drop-in valuations, Mitchells also offer zero-cost weekly valuations at their Cockermouth saleroom each Friday.

Recent events have uncovered a trove of valuable items, including a Victorian Indian silver horse racing trophy, which went on to be sold for £4,000 at Mitchells Antiques & Fine Art Sale in September.

The trophy was inscribed 'Won by Captain Hickmans Moonstone (owner) Madras Sky races 1880' and was discovered at a charity valuation at St. Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston by South Lakes Valuer David Brookes.

Another recent charity pop-up benefiting Coniston TIC brought in more stunning finds, from 1966 World Cup memorabilia, a rare Victorian/Edwardian footman’s outfit, and a diamond ring valued at £1,000.

Additional Pop-Up Valuations benefiting St. Mary’s Hospice are slated for October 13 at the Ulverston-based hospice and October 27 at Millom Library.

The event allows the public to bring in items for free valuation between 10am and 2pm, in return for a charitable donation.

David Brookes, who can be reached at 07787 870001 or david.brookes@mitchellsantiques.co.uk offers free valuations and home visits serving the South Lakes, Furness and wider region.

Meanwhile, Mitchells is also holding weekly Drop-In Valuations at their Cockermouth venue each Friday.

The public is again invited to bring items for free valuation between 10am and 2pm.

Especially sought after are works by local artists, to be showcased in a special Cumbrian Art section in Mitchells' next Antiques & Fine Art Sale, running from November 29 to December 1.
