A BUSINESS owner 'sick' of negative videos of Barrow has created his own TikTok promoting shops in the town.
Nathan Lippitt, owner of Bio Skyn, which makes handmade bath and beauty products, was likely responding to a recent social media video by a content creator called Jonti.
Jonti called the town centre 'depressing.' He said in the video: "This has got to be the worst town centre I've visited. There's nothing here. Everything is just empty shops."
@j0nti Very strange place, town centre is depressing #barrowinfurness #barrow #Jonti #towntours #furnessabbey ♬ original sound - Jonti
He called the town as a whole 'boring.'
Nathan responded with his own video under the Bio Skyn TikTok account. He has recently moved to a larger premises on Paxton Street.
He said in the video: "I am super sick of seeing all these videos of people coming to Barrow-in-Furness and showing it as 'there's nothing here.' I'm going to show a few little bits and a few little businesses and it may change your mind and you'll visit us because we really need the support. Instead of people banging on about 'it's abandoned buildings' because it's not like that at all."
He first showed his shop and then haberdashery shop Jenny's Stitches, which he called 'a magical wonderland full of fabrics.'
He also toured suitcase shop Got It Covered and he called Bon Marche on Dalton Road 'cosy.' He visited toy shop The Entertainer, Aja's Babywear and Accessories and Pete's Fruit and Veg. He praised the planters put on Portland Walk by the council, Barrow Business Improvement District and Grimefighters.
Nathan particularly praised Expressions' new storefront at Portland Walk, calling it a 'beautiful shop.' The jewellery and accessory shop has recently moved from Dalton Road into the bigger premises.
He said: "They do some gorgeous, gorgeous gifts, they have just recently opened."
Barrow BID shared Nathan's video and said: "A great video from Nathan showcasing some of the amazing businesses Barrow town centre has to offer."
