A HEAD chef has been left paralysed from the chest down after a horror motorbike crash.
20-year-old Dylan Shinkwin, who worked at Ambleside Tavern, will never be able to walk again after suffering life-changing injuries in a crash in Warwick, near Birmingham, in September.
He suffered a broken spine and has irreversibly severed his spinal cord, broken his nose and neck, punctured a lung, as well as multiple other injuries.
"He is currently in critical care at the hospital," said his partner Molly Holden, from Ambleside.
"His injuries are so significant that he is permanently paralysed from the chest down and will never be able to walk again.
"He is understandably in shock like everyone who knows him. He is the one that’s keeping his family’s spirits up."
Dylan will move to a spinal rehabilitation unit and due to the additional costs, Molly and Samantha Maud, from Ambleside Tavern, have created a fundraising page to help with the extra expenses.
The additional costs will be for a wheelchair and travelling expenses to and from Wales which is where he will be getting transferred to.
Molly said: "The hospital that Dylan will be moved to is not close to the family or where I currently live in Warwick.
"To allow myself to travel, stay over and have time off of work we hope to raise £2,000.
"It is a shock to see that people have already donated anyway and it is overwhelming with how much help we have had.
"As his girlfriend I'm going to stick by him and if we don't raise any money we don't and if we do it will be fantastic and we can obviously have the best life that he deserves because as the person he is we didn't think that this will ever happen to somebody like him."
