LITTER collected from Windermere, which included disposable vapes and a hard drive, has been branded 'disappointing' by the Lake District national park authority.
Three Lake District Diving members spent three and a half hours at Millerground pulling out glass bottles, a wedding ring, a hard drive left in a plastic bag, a dry suit filled with rocks, many disposable vapes and a full bottle of motor oil.
A spokesperson for the Lake District National Park Authority said: "It’s disappointing to see so much litter collected from Windermere, this not only impacts the beautiful views but harms the fragile environment of the National Park. We encourage everyone to leave nothing but footprints and take all litter and dog poo bags home."
Diver Angus Hosking asked why people do not take their rubbish home.
He said: "People bring a full bag of food and bottles, and it's already heavy when it's full, but then you can't be bothered to bring it back when it's lighter. Why would you not remove the things that you have brought there?"
