THERE will be multiple delays on the A590 over the next fortnight, according to National Highways' latest expected works list.
Some of these delays are up to 30 minutes. National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads such as the A590. Smaller roads are operated by the highways department of the council and therefore will not be outlined by National Highways.
These closures are already in progress and will continue this week:
• A590, from 9.30am September 26 to 3.30pm October 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Elliscales Roundabout to High and Low Newton Bypass, Lane one closures and traffic signals for Wildflower cut and collect at all sites.
• A590, from 8pm August 16 to 6am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Greenodd Roundabout, traffic signals for speed limit signage and average speed camera installation.
• A590, from 8am September 14 to 6am November 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Meathop, Lane closure and carriageway closures.
A further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:
• A590, from 8am to 6pm on September 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 jct 36 Potential heavier traffic due to Lakeland Trails (Cartmel Racecourse).
• A590, from 9.30am September 26 to 3.30pm October 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Elliscales Roundabout to High and Low Newton Bypass, Lane one closures and traffic signals for Wildflower cut and collect at all sites.
• A590, from 6pm September 28 to 5.30am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 westbound and eastbound, Ulverston to Newland, traffic signals for BT works.
