SATURDAY Kitchen host and celebrity chef Matt Tebbutt talked of his love of Cumbria as he attended the annual Westmorland County Show.
The Food Unwrapped presenter hosted a cooking demonstration in The Cumbria Life Food Theatre to a packed-out audience.
Speaking to The Westmorland Gazette ahead of his presentation, Matt shared his love of Cumbria and commended the produce the county has on offer.
When asked about how he felt to be at the show, Matt said: “It’s great to be here. The weather is beautiful, I love this area. I first came across it many years ago at school when I did my Duke of Edinburgh around this area in the mountains.
“I have been up here all weekend. I came up after the show on Saturday and went to a pre-wedding party and wedding on Sunday which we have just about recovered from.”
The TV chef took to the Cumbria Life Food Theatre to create two dishes, making a roasted tuna dish with a mild garlic and white onion cream and a tapenade, with his second dish being a local lamb with skordalia, with a feta parsley and preserve salad.
Cumbria has the most Michelin-star restaurants outside of London, putting the county on the map as a real ‘foodie’ haven.
Matt said: “I think it’s really cool to be honest. I went to a great restaurant last night a little pub called the Dog and Gun, it was a guy on his own called Ben, he was in the kitchen on his own doing absolutely everything.
“You’ve got great produce, a great catchment area and a great location."
