BARROW has been ranked as one of the most stressful areas in England, according to new figures.
A study by CBD oil products company CBDfx analysed data from the Office for National Statistics’ which found Barrow to be the fourth most stressful area in England.
The mental health of residents, feelings of anxiety and life satisfaction were the factors measured across all local authorities.
Barrow scored 82.6 / 100 for mental health, 82.0 / 100 for anxiety and 84.4 / 100 for life satisfaction.
The study found Chesterfield to be the most stressed region, with Thanet and Norwich ranking second and third.
Exeter, Redditch, Lincoln, Newark and Sherwood, Bassetlaw and Preston made up the remaining top 10 places.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for CBDfx said: “While it’s interesting to compare the individual scores of areas to feature in this list, it’s important to note that all of these areas score lower in these categories than the national average, which is a big issue in itself.
“It’s also not surprising that many areas score so low compared to others, with many cause of stress being brought on by things like the rising cost of living, which has affected areas of England differently.”
Members of the public reacted to the news on social media.
Graham Wilson said: “Life is only as stressful and depressing as you make it. You get one shot at this thin called life. It’s better to make it as happy for yourself as you can.”
Mark Lyon said: “Probably the least stressful place I’ve ever lived!”
Janet Grieg said: “Not surprised sadly.”
Elizabeth Mcinally said: “It should have come first.”
Edinete Marshall commented: “No, because if you look around, the whole world has more than enough stress. Just think of the bigger picture.”
Antöny Statham said: “Sadly yes. I love Barrow but it needs help.”
Robert Sewell said: “Sounds about right.”
