A SOUTH Cumbrian celebrity drain spotter has donated £200 from the proceeds of a new documentary to charity.
Archie Workman, famous in the area for maintaining and repairing benches, drains and shrubbery, starred in a nine-minute film at the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston.
The film, called Drainspotting, showcased his rise to fame from unclogging blocked drains in Colton Parish to creating a name for himself on the after-dinner circuit and featuring in news stories from all over the world.
40 people paid the £5 admission charge to watch Screen 3 Productions’ nine-minute documentary, which raised a grand total of £200.
Archie and Matthew Cooper, a worker at the museum, have now handed over the proceeds from the world premiere of the drain spotting film to Annabelle Holloway, area fundraising manager for the St Mary’s Hospice.
