A MORECAMBE Bay beach has been named as a hidden gem.
Silverdale Cove, near Carnforth, was listed as one of England's best 12 'secret beaches' by The Telegraph newspaper.
The newspaper praised the beach for its rock pools and a cave, and its pretty nearby seaside destinations such as Silverdale and Arnside. It backed the Challan Hall B&B at Gait Barrows Nature Reserve as the place to stay for holidaymakers in the area.
The cove is within the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Natural Beauty which features other nature reserves such as Warton Crag and RSPB Leighton Moss. Those who enjoy active holidays may fancy hiking from Arnside to Far Arnside and return via Arnside Knott.
The article warned the beach was more for exploring than 'sunbathing or taking a dip' as there are sinking sands and rip tides.
