A vehicle customisation shop is closing its doors after 26 years of service.

Darren McBryde, owner of Speed of Sound Ltd on Hindpool Road in Barrow, said the shop was closing due to a lack of product availability and being unable to fulfill customer requirements.

The company specialised in installing CD players, DAB radios, DVD players, parking sensors, phone kits, SAT NAVs and road safety equipment.

They have been an ever-present business on the high street for nearly three decades and had gained lots of loyal customers over the years.

Darren McBryde, director of Speed of Sound Ltd, said: “Some customers have been waiting since March because there is still no sign of parts. This is only going to get worse as time goes on.

"My best memories are dealing with my loyal customers over the years, some of which have become good friends.

"I enjoy talking to people who have come from afar - the other week I had someone in from Cornwall. I always enjoy a challenge, whether that be on a car, bike or boat.

"The time has come for change with new job prospects."
